European 3rd Directive on Driving Licences.

This piece of European legislation comes into force in January 2013

and will have a dramatic effect on obtaining a motorcycle licence.

The main changes are, the raising of the age for Direct Access to 24 years and above, removal of the automatic upgrade to full Category A licence following the two year restricition period of the current A2 licence and the introduction of another licence category for those aged 19 years and above.

For those taking their test at 17 or 19, in order to progress to the next licence, you will either need to take an additional test or undergo a further period of training on the next size of bike.
